Barkas & Addie: Kinbaku Town

Intensive workshop

Kinbaku City by George Barkas and Addie Tahl (Vancounver, Canada).

Bio:

Barkas and Addie, based in Vancouver, are educators and perform all over the world. His style is characterized by his focus on process, interaction and  emotions in the Shibari scene. Together they run TheSpace2, Vancouver's first dedicated Kinbaku studio.

Barkas is a bondage artist and writer, he has developed  " Interview Metatapho r" as a way of understanding Shibari / Kinbaku and how to focus on the tied person, "Ranboo" which is a highly dynamic and turbulent style and way of thinking to do Kinbaku, along with " Kinbaku City " ( City of Kinbaku ), as a more poetic way.

Addie is an enthusiastic switch and self-tie, organizes regular workshops on the dynamics of self-suspension and focuses on a more versatile education for those beginners and advanced in the more technical part of Shibari. When they co-teach together, she focuses on information and conversation for the models.

Event details:

A poetic journey to the metaphorical city of Kinbaku, by Barkas. They both collect their participants and guide them through the many meanings that Kinbaku can have.

They will discuss communication through strings, movement with strings, and space in the context of Kinbaku. This trip includes very simple techniques and others more elaborate alike, the participants will gain a deep insight into the philosophy and techniques of Barkas and Addie's work. We encourage all people with different experiences to participate and not get carried away by the fears that may arise with the proposed challenges.

This class is for mixed levels as long as they meet the prerequisites, the main idea is to work in an unusual class format that focuses more on experience than fixed patterns and sequences. Therefore, it will not go into details of what ties are made in class but rather to deepen with each couple in their own journey together with the guidance of Barkas and Addie, and taking the essence of their style and point of view, each person will build their own way. This workshop is for both those who identify as model / bottom and those who identify as riggers / riggers.

Schedules: 

October 23-24, 2021, 10:00 - 18:00

There will be a long break of 1 hour and a half and short breaks throughout the class. There is only the possibility of reserving both days of class for a complete experience.

Pre requirements:

A good understanding of single column ties, basic suspension experience, ability to tie some type of torso harness (without or with hands).

What Brig: 

Strings, minimum a set of 8 pieces. If you don't have strings or  enough, you can buy us  in Learn Shibari or Espacio Nos. Food and snacks for the day of class, comfortable clothes (something you would use for activities with movement), curiosity and questions, open mind!

Public: 

In couple / duo. The value of the ticket corresponds to two people. It would be ideal for couples who do this class to be willing to be open to communication, give feedback, listen to feedback, act according to the information provided, explore emotions, psyche and bodies during the classes (if possible!). We will prioritize access to peers / couples  belonging to the LGBTQIA + collective, women / feminities and  of other socio-economically marginalized groups.

Value: 

Tickets  for LGBTQIA + couples and women / femininity they have a reduced value for both days (couples / duos).

Regular price tickets for the rest are € 450 for both days (couples / duos).

Reservation:

By filling in the form for this event, you are requesting a place to attend it. If you receive a confirmation  positive, you will be explained how  The process to finalize your reservation works, which includes the full payment of your place within a limited period of time. The places will not be "saved" without the requested payment more than the time we offer, the first accepted people who reserve will be the first to obtain their places until the full capacity of the class is filled.

To attend this workshop, you must have a certificate or proof of vaccination and / or a pcr less than 24 hours old. And we will follow the restrictions for health reasons that are established during the date of the event, so the conditions could change. If for any reason you do not have or cannot offer us one of these tests, please write to us and we can look at your case and see if we can find a common solution.

Idiom: 

Barkas and Addie will teach the class in English and there will be 1-2 people doing live translation for those who do not understand fluent English.

Teaching consent:

Everyone is unique. Exercises that work for instructors will be taught. If you cannot or do not want, regardless of the reasons, to practice any exercise, please let him know and they will look for options that can be better accommodated.
